THE HOUSEBOAT CENTRE sent out this message.. "SOS ... _ _ _ ... Save Our Seamark !!!" and Hywell Benjamin of Bay Radio Swansea stepped forward to try to form a trust and preserve the vessel .

This historic English Pilot Cutter is due to be cut up to make way for Dockyard Development. Swansea Museum feel unable to accept responsibility for her maintenance. If the Trust fails she will be available for sale again.

T.H.P.V. SEAMARK
T.H.P.V. = Trinity House Pilot Vessel

Classic Pilot Cutter  Captain Class accomodation for the Pilots and superb saloon in a massively built vessel with superbly reliable equipment, necessary for a a cutter that had to be available working every day in every kind of sea.
PLEASE CONTACT US IF YOU WORKED OR TRAINED OR KNOW ANY HISTORY ON SEAMARK.

She has a fine Masters cabin and an engineers cabin on the Upper deck near the wheelhouse. 4 cabins for the crew and 6 further cabins for the pilots. She worked out of Swansea in Wales and was taken out of service there and last drydocked in 2001.
Then taken to Cardiff and used as the Sea Scouts HQ till end of 2008. The Sea Scouts maintained her and painted her Black and white.

Most of the photos were taken on Monday 12th April 2010.

(the two exceptions were the original drawing and the photo of her in service-colours, basically orange and red)

(one engine requires slight attention, the other is dissasembled, but the vessel is designed to run on one engine, both feed into a single shaft). We are advised that the Maritime Volunteers who have been maintaining the vessel would help the new owner service the (almost)running engine and it would be running in a week

Built to a very high standard for Trinity House in 1959, this is classic quality. The teak planks on the deck are fitted perfectly and are inches thick. It is solid enough to outlast any person living today. The dockyard where she is stored is being sold -

Seamark was going to be cut up and sold for scrap steel .  But a buyer has stepped forward who will preserve her and live on board..
